Phil Strahan

Phil's roots are firmly placed in a mixture of mainstream Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Classical and Gospel.

For more than 25 years he has been an engineer, producer, arranger and session musician at 'Sonup Studios' in picturesque Busselton, Western Australia.

Phil's passion for music is exemplified by his pure obsession with melody, harmony, rhythm and tonal qualities.

He has helped many upcoming, local artists achieve national radio airplay and fruitful careers in the industry to date.

Such artists have been finalists and winners of the coveted WAMi Awards and Tamworth Songwriter's Competition.

He sponsors and judges many community events including the Busselton Battle of the Bands, Bunbury Eisteddfod and regularly performs for International Cruise Ship arrivals at the Busselton Jetty.

At the age of 15, Phil was drawn to the guitar and began learning at a furious rate. His main influences at the time were Dire Straits, Van Halen, Gary Moore and Split Enz and he learned to play by ear.

It was whilst attending a show at the Melbourne Concert Hall, with guitarists John Williams and Paco Pena, that he realised music was his dream. He swiftly took up classical guitar and within two short years auditioned for Melbourne University's prestigious 'Victorian College of the Arts' in 1992 where he successfully obtained a degree in Classical Guitar.

When it comes to performing or composing, Phil has a real fervour to give to his audience. He believes music is about sharing the gift with your listeners for their enjoyment, contentment and well-being.

He aspires to better his own playing, but most of all his focus is to continue learning to unravel this mysterious phenomenon we love called MUSIC.
